Working K-9s sacrifice everything, dedicating their lives to provide humans with protection, happiness, and freedom. They don't choose this path; they do it because exceptional loyalty is in their nature. Returning that loyalty should come without question. The Michelle Millard Memorial K-9 Hero fund is a charitable healthcare donation program that provides financial and in-kind product donations that support retired police K-9s from the Newport News Police Department.
How It Works
Every retired Newport News Police Department K9 receives a $250 gift card to assists with
their medical care during the year.
Donors may pick a retired K9 to sponsor, fully covering the routine care of the dog, providing a safety net in the event of accident or disease, and covering the dog's final arrangements, ensuring that even in their final moments, these dogs are honored with dignity
and respect, and that a grieving handler need not worry about the cost during these difficult
moments.the K-9 dogs who serve and protect our community.
Her wish was that we work with the Newport News Police Foundation for the support and needs of our K-9s and their handlers.
